We have a Weber griddle and often cook outdoors at night and until I found this clever little gadget we always had a hard time lighting up the surface sufficiently to see what we were doing. Traditional grill lights mounted on the side shelf just didn’t cast enough light across the wide surface of the griddle. But this one that ingeniously hangs from the cover’s handle when we stow it at the back of the griddle during cooks is just perfect! It lights up the entire surface and even better it’s out of the way since the side shelves are freed up. Couldn’t be happier!
This grill light is built like a tank. The battery compartment is sealed with a gasket and held tight with two screws to keep it dry during the rain. The mount hole on the light is backed by a steel plate and holds the grill handle clamp very tight. The light comes with two different adjustable handle clamps to fit a wide number of grill handles – one for round handles and one for rectangle/square handles. The light can easily be removed from the handle clamp with a push of a button and turning the light 90 degrees. Finally the light is very bright, even at the low level setting, and has a reflector angled down and back to light the grill’s cooking area. The light is position triggered to turn on when the light body is level – or when the grill lid is opened. Close the lid and the light goes off. You can change the light level from low to high with a press of the power button. If the light is accidentally left on, the light will turn itself off after 30 minutes to save the batteries. There is even a manual override to keep the light on by pressing the power button for more than three seconds. This is a great addition for anyone who grills and wants light available for cooking. I really like it.
Now that daylight savings time has taken hold and it's pitch black for like 23 hours of the day, a grill light is vital for winter grilling. This light is perfect for that. It comes with two clamps for the grill handle, one square and one round. Once the clamp is attached to the handle, the light twists on/off the clamp so I can take it inside (thus preserving the batteries). The light is a bright white LED with two brightness settings. I'd describe the light color similar to the 'daylight' LED bulbs they sell (as opposed to the soft white bulbs), so it lights up the grill well. I have a smaller Weber so one light is good for me, but larger grills may benefit from two of these, although I found the light to be sufficient and it appears that it would work find on bigger grills, just with a bit of shadows at the edges.
